Android is experiencing some “pretty spectacular” growth

In early March, 2010, Computer World is reporting that Google's Android is experiencing fast and steady growth, while the iPhone market is shrinking.  Now the iPhone clearly is far ahead (iPhone: 63.7% to Android's 15.2%), but Android is catching up.   Since the release of the Motorola Droid, and the Verizon advertisements calling out AT&T not having the best network, it seems like many customers are flocking to the freedom that Android offers.

At this point it is unknown how long this trend will continue.   Google's free development environment with no strings attached and decent documentation is really helping them catch up as far as the number of applications available in the App market.   But perhaps the biggest lure to developers is that Google is apparently not subjecting the developers to the nightmare of arbitrary rejection from the market, that Applie is known for.
